Marketing & Public Relations InternSilk Screen is an Asian arts nonprofit whose mission is to promote diversity, creativity and cross-cultural education of Asian culture through art, specifically film, music and dance. The 2016 annual Film Festival dates are September 16-25.
The marketing and public relations intern will be responsible for maintaining and increasing the brand recognition and presence of Silk Screen.
He/She will:
- Maintain active and engaging social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Learn to create press releases for Silk Screen events and film festival
- Promote Silk Sound’s jazz band and its album Sun Gate
- Work with the Film Programming Committee to create marketing materials for the Film Festival
- Create updates about Silk Screen on local community calendars
- Assist with the monthly Silk Screen newsletter
- Manage local/national media contact information
- Attend Silk Screen events
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, be comfortable working both individually and in a group setting, be able to multitask efficiently and complete assigned work under tight deadlines.
Hours: 10-15 hours a week at the Silk Screen office in the Strip District.
Operations & Development Intern

He/she will:
- Learn how to write grant material
- Assist in maintaining a database of contacts
- Assist in the creation of a monthly newsletter
- Assist in the planning of fundraising events
- Attend Silk Screen events
- Assist with administrative tasks
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, be comfortable working both individually and in a group setting, be able to multitask efficiently and complete assigned work under tight deadlines.
Hours: 10-15 hours a week at the Silk Screen office in the Strip District.
Film Programming Intern
Silk Screen is an Asian arts nonprofit whose mission is to promote diversity, creativity and cross-cultural education of Asian culture through art, specifically film, music and dance. The 2016 annual Film Festival dates are September 16-25.
He/She will:
• Maintain ongoing communication with the Film Programming Director and Programming Committee regarding current films
• Locate, watch, review and track screeners of potential films
• Coordinate bringing films to Pittsburgh for the festival
• Work with the Marketing & PR committee to create promotional materials
• Write film descriptions for use on the website and program book
• Attend Silk Screen events
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, be comfortable working both individually and in a group setting, be able to multitask efficiently and complete assigned work under tight deadlines. A love for film is a helpful passion to possess for this job.
Hours: 10-15 hours a week at the Silk Screen office in the Strip District.
