Pittsburgh’s Fifth Annual Asian American Film Festival
Pittsburgh, PA – April 1st, 2010 – After five years, Silk Screen’s Film Festival is better than ever! Each year we host a ten-day film festival that features films from Asia. This year the festival will be held May 7th through the 16th.

The festival will be kicked off with the Opening Night Film Cooking with Stella at 7:00 pm. This film focuses on the clever doings of a family’s funny, private cook, Stella. After the film, Silk Screen is hosting a colorful and exotic fundraising: the Opening Night Gala at the Omni William Penn. Fresh on the film festival circuit are Walking to School (China), Make Yourself at Home (S. Korea/USA), and Adrift (Vietnam). For a complete list of films, please visit our website. Don’t miss the special sneak preview of For Real (India)! Visiting directors and other film staff will be holding question and answer sessions after a selection of the films. These are great chances to get to know the people who worked on the films and in-depth information about how these movies were made.

The film festival celebrates not only Asian and Asian American culture and art, but also the city of Pittsburgh. Attendees will be able to get a taste of Downtown, Oakland, and Regent Square through the three venue locations: Harris Theater, the Melwood Screening Room, and Regent Square Theater. Each film is $9 for adults and $5 for students with valid I.D.’s. A $50 8-film pass is also available for purchase (that’s a $72 value!). Tickets for the opening night film are $15. Opening Night Gala tickets are $100 till May 1. $120 after that. Tickets can purchased online or at the box offices of the three venue locations.
