General Office Intern

Silk Screen, Asian Arts organization is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to promote cross-cultural education of the Asian Arts through entertainment: film, music and dance performances.

Office Operations This person will work directly with the Festival Coordinator on all aspects of operation for Silk Screen festival and cultural / arts events.

  • Assist with general office duties (phone/ fax/ copies)
  • Assist with all necessary forms, folders, event/ theater supplies to support all key Silk Screen teams (technology, volunteer, programming, gala, marketing)
  • Arrange tasks and coordinate volunteers at events
  • Assist in planning all special events (gala, fundraising, partner, cultural days)
  • Research Asian Arts events in Pittsburgh and assist in forming partnerships

Hours: in Silk Screen Office, 10-16 hours a week
The main event of Silk Screen is a 10-day film festival in the spring showcasing Asian and Asian American films.

Database Intern

Silk Screen, Asian Arts organization is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to promote cross-cultural education of the Asian Arts through entertainment: film, music and dance performances.
Database Development Intern: This candidate will be working directly with the Organization Leadership staff to maintain the current database.

  • Learn how to use Sales Force (online mailing database)
  • Keep track of all changes made to Sales Force accounts
  • Run reports and organize lists
  • Work with Marketing and Public Relations intern to send out email blasts through the database.
  • Attend team meetings

Hours: in Silk Screen Office, 10-16 hours a week.

NOTE: Interns are expected to be available throughout the entire festival.


Marketing Intern

Silk Screen, Asian Arts organization is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to promote cross-cultural education of the Asian Arts through entertainment: film, music and dance performances.
Marketing & Public Relation: This person will work directly with the Executive Director in maintaining and increasing the media presence of Silk Screen.

  • Maintain active presence in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc.)
  • Create press releases for Silk Screen events and Film Festival
  • Work with the Film Programming interns to create marketing materials for the Film Festival
  • Create updates about Silk Screen on local community calendars
  • Manage local/national media contact information: keep up-to-date and research for new sources

Hours: Silk Screen Office – between 10-15 hours a week

Events & Operations Intern

Year-Round Event & Operations This person will work directly with Organization Leadership staff on all aspects of operations for Silk Screen festival and cultural/arts events year round.

  • Assist with fundraiser and Film Festival planning
  • Assist in coordinating special events
  • Assist with community, school, and college outreach
  • Maintain spreadsheets of community contacts
  • Attend Silk Screen events

Hours: in Silk Screen Office, 10-16 hours a week

Festival Programming Intern

2 Positions Available
Silk Screen, Asian Arts organization is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to promote cross-cultural education of the Asian Arts through entertainment: film, music and dance performances.
Film Programming: This person will work directly with the Film Programming Assistant to research and obtain films for that year’s Asian and Asian American Film Festival.

  • Research, rate, track and coordinate bringing the festival films to Pittsburgh
  • Arrange for screener samples of films that are deemed interesting by the Festival Programming Committee to be sent to Pittsburgh
  • Distribute the screeners to members of the Programming committee and keep track of the sample screeners that leave the office
  • Create and update the spreadsheet of the potential film choices
  • Watch screener samples for consideration for the film festival

Hours: Silk Screen Office – between 10-14 hours a week October through May
