Winner of the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize Documentary at Sundance, A River Changes Course tells the story of three families living in contemporary Cambodia as they face hard choices forced by rapid development and struggle to maintain their traditional ways of life as the modern world closes in around them. “Director Kalyanee Mam follows these families and their distinctive ways of life with her eyes wide open. What’s so unusual about her approach is that she sees just as clearly as an artist, a journalist and a de facto anthropologist, enhanced by David Mendez’s haunting music.” (Wall Street Journal) The film will be accompanied by a Cambodian food tasting and demonstration. (2013, in Khmer with English subtitles, 83 minutes)
