The Sewickley Film Series is Back...
This educational Asian documentary series, in partnership with Sewickley Academy,
is back for its third year.
When: Saturday, January 12 @ 2PMWhere: Gregg Theater, Sewickley Academy
"The Power of Two"
The Power Of Two offers an intimate portrayal of the bond between half-Japanese
twin sisters Anabel Stenzel and Isabel Stenzel Byrnes, their lifelong
battle with the fatal genetic disease cystic fibrosis (CF), survival through miraculous
double lung transplants, and improbable emergence as authors,
athletes and advocates for organ donation and those suffering from CF in the
U.S. and Japan.
"The Heart of Jenin"
January 17 @ 7pm
Where: REA Auditorium, Sewickley Academy
The Heart of Jenin is the story of Ahmed Chatib, a Palestinian boy shot by
Israelis whose father decided, within twelve hours, to donate his sons
organs to six Israeli children so as to save their lives. This film is a trip
through occupied territory and hearts occupied by prejudice.. It is the story
of a humanitarian peace gesture that seemed, for a short instant, to prevail
over the insoluble conflict between Israel and Palestine.
When: Saturday February 2 @ 2pm
Where: REA Auditorium
An ambitious initiative to re-open a previously abandoned cinema in the West
Bank City of Jenin offers a nuanced and textured view into the city and the
dedicated, loyal, and often conflicted group of people who follow a dream.
